H1Z1 vs. DayZ - Which Will Survive

Marc Colhoun of RealSG writes, "So then the question becomes: "Can H1Z1 be a DayZ killer?" Well I don't think that it wants to be, not overtly at least. I do however believe it will. The development of the DayZ standalone is not exactly rocketing along (that just happened) and the mod for Arma II is still the more superior experience. SOE have the expertise and assets to get this done and to get it done right."

Watch Dogs: a cutting edge world that feels both new and familiar

Stace Harman plugs himself into Watch Dogs’ fictional universe and finds a degree of familiarity that could enhance immersion but may ultimately lessen its impact. ”Pearce’s technical wizardry is such that he can cast his spell on pretty much anything that’s controlled by a computer system and in Watch Dogs, as in real life, that’s […]

Everquest Next "a living world" thanks to new AI

Gamereactor sat down with David Georgeson from Sony Online Entertainment and Stéphane Bura of Storybricks to discuss the ambitious plans surrounding AI in Everquest Next and Landmark. Georgeson explained to us that: "AI is becoming incredibly predictable and a lot of the time static in these games, and our whole goal, what we wanted to go with for Everquest Next, was to make an ever-changing world that was dynamic and reacting to what the players did. And to be able to do that we had to develop a very, very different kind of system." We also asked Bura "what is an orc's life?", to which Bura…

Continue Countdown #2 The Evil Within, Borderlands: Pre-Sequel, Super Mario 20, More

Warp Zoned writes: "The second episode of Warp Zoneds Continue Countdown is now available to watch through our YouTube channel. Its a PAX East kind of show as [we] discuss the blandness of The Evil Within, the bizarreness of The Behemoths Game 4, and the baffling choice to put Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The trio also delves into the Console War Between the PS4 and Xbox One, next-gen remakes like The Last of Us Remastered, and whether the inclusion of Marvel characters will affect our decision to purchase Disney Infinity 2.0. BioWare has a lot to prove with Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dealpwn: "The company's website tagline is "Rich stories, unforgettable characters, vast worlds". Dragon Age II had none of those things, and BioWare really need to step up their game with Inquisition, and though they're talking the talk and saying all of the right things, I'm less willing to give them the benefit of the doubt these days. CD Projekt RED have been waylaid, delaying The Witcher III until early 2015. Bound By Flame is set to release months ahead of Inquisition's October drop. There are no excuses available to BioWare any more -- they will have centre stage. Let's hope they deliver…

Strike Suite Zero: Directors Cut Review - Gamer Chatter

Released on PC back in January 2013 Strike Suit Zero, even fans of the genre seemed undecided on how to receive this new offering from Born Ready Games. Inspired by games such as Elite, Homeworld and Rogue Leader many hoped that this would be a return to the glory days of space combat and to a certain extent it was, the combat itself was excellent but some found the difficulty level off putting and the mechanics a little clunky. After getting feedback from the PC version the game gets a long overdue console release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the form of the new and improved Strike Suit Zero-Directors…
